Our favorite summer fruit, the strawberry, is the theme for this motif-styled sampler. The fruit's recognizable shape is such a fun motif to interpret in various counted thread techniques. Chosen are queens, half-queens, colonial knots, back stitch...see morees and cross stitches. Although diminutive in size, 5.5-inches wide by 4.5-inches high, it packs a challenge for an experienced embroiderer. Two pulled thread stitches are also used and of course, the color red predominates. The model was worked on 36-count cream colored linen with 7 colors of DMC threads.
